Subdeck / Krásne Straty teams up with Popular to bring a true house legend and DJ extraordinaire.
Giles Smith has been a key figure and influential DJ at the forefront of deep, roots inspired dance music in London for 25 years.
For 21 years before recently going solo, Giles was co-founder and one half of Secretsundaze. One of London’s most infamous, best loved and consistent parties and DJ duo’s.
Giles has played at many of the best clubs across Europe, USA and Japan from Panorama Bar, Smart Bar, Giant Steps, Contact, Fabric, Robert Johnson to Closer. Known for his immaculate taste and his ability to blend soulful NYC / Chicago vocal cuts, raw Detroit inspired jams, broken beat, and boogie always sublimely programmed. In smaller, more intimate settings he sometimes leans into his love of street soul, hip hop and r&b. His DJ sets are characterised by a strong emphasis on groove and smooth flow, whilst never becoming too predictable.
As a producer Giles was one half of respected production duo Two Armadillos from 2008 to 2013, before the tragic loss of his partner Martin Dawson. They released 16 EP’s as well as remixing the likes of Jovonn, Lana Del Ray, Commix and Leif. Since then, as 1 one half of Secretsundaze he released on world reknown labels such as Mule Musiq, Live at Robert Johnson and Phonica. Most recently in 2025 Giles has released on Eglo records and has a 2nd release with the iconic label coming soon.
Giles’s has a much loved, bi-monthly residency on NTS Radio and don’t forget to check his essential and epic deep dives for the stations “In Focus Series” on Ron Trent and Larry Heard.
In May 2025 Giles was invited to become a resident at one of London’s best new clubs, Number 90 Hideout with his “Giles Smith & Friends” party inviting the likes of Fred P, Volcov and Prosumer.
